The site visit is an essential need during each design stages, not only for recording but also let the designer know the background, situations and development of the city and zone deeply. There are five short-documentaries in total made in Centre London and Centre Hong Kong.

Explore the City | Boundary & Territory in the City
Exploring the boundaries and territories in the city through recording floor finishings and levelling.
Through the sites visited, I defined ‘boundary’ and ‘territory’ as the specific thisness of my project. I did some research on the thisness in the city before I filmed my documentary, which may help me clarify the meanings of ‘boundary’ and ‘territory’. There are a lot of territories in our city, such as pavement and car park zone. The handrail, floor materials, disable language facilities such as tactile paving and levelling are the visible boundaries for people identifying the territories are welcomed to entry, under specific requirements or entirely banned. For examples, only licensed people allowed to use the estate car park. The one-step higher levels also the boundary of street and pavement. Based on these findings, I will expose the territory and how the boundary protects the territory in our city by a documentary video.

Explore the Behaviours | Place-making and Social identity
Exploring the construction workers’ behaviours in the tunnel and discover the place-making method by the workers and pedestrians.
Through the academic study, I found out that the construction workers made the tunnel, pavement and concrete as their favourite habitats. They made a ‘public lounge on the street’ for themselves to have interactivity, conversation, and chill out. The construction workers based on their class identities10 to make the place surrounding the concrete foundation and transform it as the centre of the gathering space with the communication practice 11. They made a strong appearance on the street, create a significant scene in the city. People can have different social activities on the street by certain human behaviours and purpose. You may found out that workers are mainly asking for leisure purpose on the road in the film II.

Key Words | #Building #Street #Room
Explore the Spaces on Construction Site
Exploring the spatial quality and possibility on The Stage construction site through recording the operation of facilities and construction workers by video and capture the special frames.
I made the new definitions for ‘building’, ‘street’ and ‘room’ through the site visited. By the observation on the construction site, I found out that the construction workers separated into three main groups. The ground operation team, wear in a red shirt with a yellow vest, Team A; intra-operation team, wear in a red jacket, Team B; storey operation team, wear in yellow jacket, Team C.
Team A had the operation with the others and delivery drivers to work on the ground floor construction and drop-off operation; Team B as the bridge to connect and communicate with Team A and Team C by intercoms mainly. Sometimes, they have to access different floors by lift; Team C mainly worked on different stories and control tower cranes to transport the construction materials from the ground floor.
The on-site operation made by the construction workers, which inspired me to re-identify the definition for the building, street, and room on site.
The building is on-built architecture;
The street is the hoist lift with the supporting steel frames;
The room is the extended working platform in the sky.
